Wiltshire Good Neighbours

Wiltshire GNPutting people at the heart of our rural communities Welcome to Wiltshire Good Neighbours—a free service for the older residents of Wiltshire.

My name is Ellen Blacker and I am your local Good Neighbour Co-ordinator.

So what is Wiltshire Good Neighbours?

Good Neighbour is aimed at older people in rural communities across the county and the service provides a range of information about statutory, voluntary and commercial services that supports them to live safe, comfortable, fulfilling and independent lives. It does this through a local Good Neighbour Co-ordinator who will listen to clients and give them information and support to access a range of services such as:

  • with personal care
  • Befriending service
  • Advice on benefits
  • Healthcare needs
  • Social activities
  • Financial concerns
  • Transport
  • Heating costs

(If you are a younger person who has health concerns or a disability that proves challenging, I may be able to help you, please contact me to discuss)

As your Good Neighbour Co-ordinator, what can I do?
By visiting clients in their home and listening to what they have to say about their needs, I can identify which organisations are best suited to deal with each individual client’s situation and we then refer or support a client to access that service. We will always follow up the referrals we make to ensure that our clients have received the service they needed. I work flexible hours, so can be available at a time that suits clients and their families – including evenings and weekends if necessary.

No question too silly; no problem too trivial
