‘Believe the unbelievable”

Pi Patel has grown up around animals and knowledge. His father Santosh is the proprietor at Pondicherry Zoo, and his school is filled with amazing teachers. However, when Pi reaches the age of 16, his father decides to close the zoo to move the family to Toronto. A small collection of the animals are loaded onto the same boat that the Patels will take to reach Winnipeg, but on the journey to North America, the boat sinks.

Pi is the only survivor of the shipwreck. He finds himself stuck in a lifeboat with a dying zebra and a hyena. When he sees another survivor floating in the water, he throws them a life line, only to discover when pulling them aboard that it is actually “Richard Parker”, the 400lbs Bengal tiger from his father’s zoo, who, due to administrative error, shares his name with the man who captured him. As the days go by on the pitiless ocean, an extraordinary alliance is forged as the two fight for survival.

With Gérard Depardieu as The Cook and Rafe Spall as The Writer.

“One man, alone with his wonderment, suspended between sky and sea. Ang Lee’s adaptation of Life of Pi restores your faith in cinema.”
